The Answer (LP #42)

This week on LONGPLAY, we’re chasing ghosts: the ones shaped like question marks.

If you’ve read Douglas Adams, you know the number 42 was given as the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything.

But no one ever figured out what the actual question was.

And maybe that’s the point.

So tonight, we’re looking.

Who are we?

What does it mean?

Where do we go when we leave?

When did it change?

Why can’t we forget?

How do we move on?

Every song in tonight’s set asks something.

Some questions are cosmic or unanswerable.

Some are tiny and deeply human.

Some are asked with a whisper.

Others with a groove you can dance to.

Could you be loved?

Where is my mind?

Is that all there is?

How soon is now?

Do you want to know a secret?

We won’t always have an answer.

Sometimes, the answer is in the asking.

We’ll try to respond gently, foolishly, and maybe even honestly.

And in the end, maybe that’s as close to “the answer” as anyone ever gets.
