This week on v/m, we’re starting a new recurring segment called Genres. It’s a deep dive of 5 songs that explores a new genre every time. It’s a way for us to discover new genres and take you along with us. We start with the music of Bollywood, the film scores, ballads and singalongs that are integral to Indian pop culture and music history. We’re quite unfamiliar with this genre so it was a chance for us to to hear some great songs and watch some fun movies as well. We encourage you to watch the films from the songs below if you find them groovy. Of course, this is by no means a definitive list of Bollywood music, nor is it trying to be, it is simply a collection of songs we enjoyed while researching Bollywood music.
